Run a Twitch giveaway with Linky: keyword, active chat or number

Linky, the DonoLink chatbot, runs giveaways in your Twitch chat from your dashboard. You choose how viewers enter (typing a keyword, being active in chat or guessing a secret number), decide who can enter and draw a random winner in one click. Entering is free for viewers.

Find Linky under Plugins in your dashboard. If it is not available for your account yet, contact DonoLink before switching tools. A connected channel also needs an active bot connection before commands can respond.

Three ways to enter in Twitch chat

In a keyword giveaway, viewers type exactly the word you choose, for example !win; capitalisation does not matter. Turn on the spam rule and anyone who keeps repeating the word is removed. With active chatters, everyone who said something in chat during the chosen period is entered: a reward for viewers who actually take part, without filling the chat with the same word. With guess the number, Linky picks a secret number in your range. The first viewer who types the right number wins immediately. The number stays hidden until there is a winner, including in your dashboard.

Who can enter and who gets better odds

Choose which roles can enter: everyone, subscribers, regulars, VIPs or moderators. Subscribers and regulars can get one to a hundred times the chance. The participant list shows whether each viewer is eligible. Exclude someone in one click, for example a moderator, your own second account or last week’s winner, and include them again if it was a mistake. The draw runs on the server with cryptographically secure randomness. Nobody, including you, can see the outcome in advance.

After the draw: check the winner or draw again

Your dashboard shows the winner straight away. Linky then follows that viewer’s chat messages for one hour, so you can see whether the winner is actually present and replies. If it stays quiet, draw another winner from the same participants. Then run the same giveaway again or start a new one. No time to set anything up? Use the built in !winner command: Linky picks a random viewer who was active in the last ten minutes and names them in chat.

One dashboard, three different jobs

DonoLink combines a donation page, OBS overlays and a chatbot. Your donation link is for viewers who want to support you financially. A bot command answers a chat message, for example with that public link. An overlay displays an alert in your broadcast. You configure these parts separately but manage them from the same account. A working chat command therefore does not establish that payments or OBS audio are already working.

Start with a small setup

Begin with a donation command, one information command and one timer. Choose who can use each command and set a cooldown to limit repetition. Have timers share useful information such as your schedule or donation link; avoid several messages appearing together. Music requests need their own player and settings. Add them after testing the basics, and use music for which you have the necessary rights.

What to check before each livestream

Test with a real chat message in the connected channel. Check the reply, link and repeated use. Separately make a short OBS recording with a test alert and listen to its audio. To verify the full payment journey, a completed donation must appear in both the dashboard and overlay. If something fails, check the channel connection, bot status and permissions first. Change one setting at a time so you can identify which step fixes the issue.

Donations in your country

For Belgian creators, use donolink.be, with Dutch information and French at /fr. Bancontact may be available for your creator account. The standard DonoLink fee is 3.5%; Stripe separately charges €0.35 for Bancontact. iDEAL has a different transaction cost: the selected method determines the fee, not the Belgian domain.

Frequently asked questions

How do I start a giveaway on Twitch?

Connect your Twitch channel in DonoLink and open Plugins, then Linky and Giveaways. Choose the giveaway type, the keyword or number range if needed, and click Start giveaway. Close entries whenever you like and click Draw winner.

Is a Linky giveaway fair?

Every participant gets the odds you set in advance. The winner is drawn on the server with cryptographically secure randomness and the secret number stays hidden until someone guesses it. Keyword spammers and viewers you exclude are not counted.

Do viewers have to pay or donate to enter?

No. Linky lets viewers enter through chat. Never tie entry to a donation, payment or purchase yourself: in many countries a draw that requires payment falls under gambling rules. If you give subscribers extra odds, make sure non paying viewers can still win and say so in your rules.

Can the same giveaway run on YouTube too?

Yes. If you have connected Twitch and YouTube, one giveaway runs on all your channels at once. Viewers from both platforms join the same draw.

Who is Linky?

Linky is DonoLink’s chatbot; it used to be called DonoLink Bot. Linky answers commands, posts timers, moderates your chat, thanks donors in chat and helps with song requests, giveaways and polls on Twitch and YouTube. You manage it under Plugins in your DonoLink dashboard. In chat, it posts through DonoLink’s bot account.

Is a chatbot the same as a donation platform?

No. A chatbot handles chat commands and automated messages. DonoLink adds a public donation page and OBS alerts. Stripe handles payments; the bot itself does not process card details.

Do viewers need a DonoLink account?

Viewers do not need a DonoLink account to donate. Share the public donation link from your dashboard. Do not share overlay URLs, secret keys or account access in chat.

Do all commands work identically on Twitch and YouTube?

Commands and timers use the same bot settings, but permissions, chat connections and platform actions differ. Test each channel separately. A successful Twitch test does not establish that a YouTube livestream works.
