Set up an OBS donation alert and overlay
Show a donation on stream with your viewer's name, a message and a sound. Share your donation link with viewers and add the separate overlay URL to OBS. After payment is confirmed, DonoLink can display the notification on your stream.
Step 1: create your donation page and configure an alert
Create a DonoLink account, choose your username and connect Stripe to accept payments. Then open Overlays in your dashboard. Create a donation variant and choose its text, image and sound. A donation alert needs a configured donation variant to appear. Start with one variant and add different alerts by amount later if needed.
Step 2: add the overlay as an OBS browser source
Copy the alerts URL from your dashboard. In OBS, open the scene where the notification should appear, click plus under Sources and choose Browser. Paste the overlay URL and use the width and height recommended by DonoLink. Place the browser source above your game or camera in the source list. You can also use the dashboard's OBS setup wizard. Keep the overlay URL private; viewers receive your public donation link.
Step 3: test the donation sound and popup
Send a test alert from the dashboard with the correct OBS scene open. Make a short recording and check that text is readable and sound does not overpower your voice. No popup? Check source visibility and order, the overlay URL, your chosen variant and whether the alert queue is paused. A test alert checks presentation; it is not a real payment.
Step 4: add a donation goal or donation tracker
Give your donation goal a clear title, target amount and start date. Add the goal overlay as its own browser source so you can position it separately. Recent donations and the leaderboard also have their own sources. Leave important gameplay and captions visible. Twitch Bits and TikTok gifts are platform events and do not automatically count as euro donations towards your DonoLink donation goal.
Your account and OBS overlays are free. For a standard iDEAL donation, DonoLink charges 3.5%; Stripe separately charges €0.29 per payment. There is no subscription. Check the pricing page for fees by payment method.
